Cookie and Advertising Choices

Necessary tools run the site, remember your choices and protect the service. Optional tools stay off until you choose them.

What runs on this site now

No optional analytics, advertising, personalization or interaction-recording tools are currently enabled. Only necessary tools run: they deliver the pages, remember the choices on this page and protect the service.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

No advertising or other optional tool is currently enabled, so nothing on this site sells or shares personal information. You can still save an opt-out now. It applies in this browser if optional tools are turned on later, and it lasts until this site’s browser storage is cleared.

A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser counts as the same opt-out, and we treat a Do Not Track signal as an advertising opt-out.

Your website view

Choosing a view in the top bridge saves it in this browser for up to 180 days. Shared pages such as Our firm and Contact then use that view’s navigation. Visiting the business homepage also saves the business view. A direct link always opens the page you chose; the personal homepage never redirects.

The setting stays on this device and is not used for advertising. When browser storage is blocked, your choice works for this open session but cannot be remembered after you close it.

How these choices work

Necessary tools run the site, remember your choices and protect the service. With your permission, approved optional tools can measure public visits and campaigns, improve public content or show relevant Hickok Tax Advisory ads. Identified advertising partners may combine permitted activity with activity elsewhere; that can be sale/sharing or targeted advertising under privacy law. You may reject optional tools without losing essential content or agreed services.

  • Necessary: always on, only for requested functionality, security and privacy choices. Advertising is never labeled necessary.
  • Measurement: off until selected. Only approved, nonsensitive public events. Any separate advertising use also needs Advertising permission.
  • Advertising: off until selected. Global Privacy Control, other recognized opt-out signals and Do Not Track keep it off. Only disclosed eligible data and providers.
  • Personalization and experiments: off until selected. Public-content presentation only, never private tax advice or service-eligibility decisions.
  • Interaction recording: not part of a general acceptance. Nothing is collected until a separate, specific recording explanation and your affirmative choice for approved pages.

If an optional tool is turned on, public pages will first ask, offering Reject optional, Accept optional and Choose settings with equal prominence. Until then there is nothing to accept.

Changing or refusing

You can return to this page, or to Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, without signing into the portal. Global Privacy Control and applicable opt-out signals apply to covered collection and downstream use, including server-side transfers. We also treat the older Do Not Track signal as an advertising opt-out. Absence of a signal later is not renewed permission. Refusing advertising does not change your engagement, delivery consent, sharing grant or payment instruction.

No marketing tags or session replay operate in inquiry, booking and completion pages, onboarding, uploads, sign-in and recovery, messages, personalized tax work, signatures, payments or privacy-rights forms. Necessary operational providers still process information there. Tax, customer and inquiry data, client lists, and hashed identity lists used for ad targeting or suppression are excluded from ad-platform inputs.

Active tools and retention

This page lists what is actually running. When a tool is offered, its purposes, recipient categories, storage or retention and available controls are described here or with the collection notice. Tools and providers may change subject to applicable notice and choice requirements. These controls do not authorize advertising in protected services.

  • Necessary functions: site preferences may persist beyond a visit to remember selections. The saved website view lasts up to 180 days; a saved opt-out lasts until this site’s browser storage is cleared. Privacy choices and related evidence are kept as needed to apply the choice and meet applicable requirements. Sign-in and security records follow their own purpose and retention rules.
  • Optional tools: none currently enabled. Any later activation requires the applicable disclosures and working consent or opt-out controls.
  • Retention baseline: retention varies with the information, permitted purpose, active tool, choice and legal requirements. Relevant collection notices give any required additional duration or criteria. Necessary choice and compliance evidence may remain after optional collection stops.

How long a choice lasts

A choice normally covers this browser and device and information we may properly associate with it. Clearing storage or using another browser does not turn optional tools on. We do not fingerprint you to reconstruct a choice. Expiration removes permission; it does not override a known refusal or permit early requests to opt back in.

Turning off tools stops further processing that depends on that permission and triggers applicable downstream suppression or deletion steps. It does not necessarily recall information lawfully received earlier, erase required records or eliminate contextual ads. Contact privacy@hickoktax.com or (408) 265-8400 for other privacy requests; we ask only for the information needed to carry them out.
